January 11, 2018 Breakfast Meeting – Gay Conn, North Fraser Therapeutic Riding Association
January 11 @ 7:00 am - 8:30 am$20
Gay Conn moved to Pitt Meadows in 1984 with her family. She has always been an active community member and volunteer. These include school PACs, sports teams, Christmas Hamper, Big Sisters/Big Brothers, Haney Rotary Golf Tournament, local parades, Country Fest, RCMP Musical Ride, MS Run, YES Foundation and many others. Having had a lifelong fascination with horses, she finally found her way to North Fraser Therapeutic Riding Association in 2004 where her fascination quickly turned to passion.
Gay spent a few years as a volunteer and eventually became an employee. Her role transformed as the organization grew and she had the great satisfaction of being the first General Manager. In 2013 she felt it was time ‘pass the reins’ and pursue a new opportunity. She is now a member of the board of directors.
No matter what hat she is wearing, the organization, its staff, the volunteers and the clients they serve, are part of something very special.
Equine therapists help to open channels of learning and encourage clients to tap into their individual abilities. Not only do riders learn to shoot high; volunteers, instructors and many others are challenged to be their best self in this environment.
Gay will talk about this charitable organization which enriches the lives of children and adults who experience physical, mental, emotional or social challenges by providing safe and professional therapeutic equine programming.
